If your vehicle is a 2015 or newer model from any major manufacturer, there is a very good chance it has at least one ADAS feature. Check your dashboard for any of these: Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition. Any camera-based system requires recalibration after windshield replacement. Radar-based systems (front grille radar) typically do not, unless the windshield replacement disturbs the front end.
The ADAS camera uses the windshield as a reference point. Even a 1mm shift in camera angle — caused by removing and reinstalling the windshield bracket — can cause the system to aim at the wrong part of the road.
